Animal Ally Spider and Vibrational Matching Stone Picasso Stone

Spider totem is an ally for writers. It has been said that the first letters of the alphabet or the written word were inspired by the various designs found in the webs of spiders. Writing is one of the tools for creating reality

Spider made itself known to me. Unfortunately, I first recognized Spider showing up because I was bitten by Spider at almost every Sacred Circle Gathering—a medicine wheel event—that I facilitated for over a decade. After that, Spider would show up in more amicable ways. Most of the time, Spider is quite large and obvious when it has a message for me.

When connecting with Spider, it is good to know about Spider Woman, a deity in the Navajo religion and Hopi cosmological teachings. Spider Woman is considered the creator of humans and a great benefactor.

There is an old Hopi story about the people who had many differences and had forgotten their connection with the creator. They had lost their conscience to act with integrity. Those who remembered how to walk in balance on the earth and harmoniously with each other were guided by Spider Woman to survive earth challenges.

Spider’s vibrational matching gemstone is Picasso Stone. Picasso stone helps you get up and get moving. If you perceive blocks, real or imagined, use Picasso stone as a tool for transforming your emotions and achieve life-enhancing self-transformation. When mental confusion arises, contemplate the lines mapped within this stone. Use it as a tool for focus. Just as Spider must build and rebuild her web, you, too, must hold a clear vision of what you want in your web and what you want it to look like. If a piece of your world becomes tangled, both Picasso stone and Spider medicine can help you untangle the confusion so that you can rebuild.

The Ants Go Marching One by One

Every animal has gifts, talents, and qualities. The qualities are the animal’s “medicine,” to assist in healing, growing, and learning on many levels. Once you meet with, connect with, or know your animal totem, you have the opportunity to draw upon the gifts that animal brings.

Ants have arrived in my kitchen. They have quite the operation going on and are out of the way for the most part. Whenever they show up in numbers, it’s time to look into understanding their message.

Message from Ant

Take notice of your ability to work harmoniously with others. Be sure you are prepared for the future and have supplies in store for unexpected storms or delays in obtaining food. Cultivate ways to be welcoming and gracious with guests in your home, as well as with those who come into your business.

Ant medicine plays a part in stories found in texts based on oral traditions about Spider Woman, a deity in the Navajo religion and Hopi cosmological teachings. Spider Woman is considered the creator of humans and a great benefactor. There is an old Hopi story about the people who had many differences and had forgotten their connection with the creator. They had lost their conscience to act with integrity. Those who remembered how to walk in balance on the earth and harmoniously with each other were guided to an opening in the earth: an ant mound. They were invited to live with the ants while the creator cleansed the world with fire. The ants were gracious hosts and had storerooms of food.

Ant’s Vibrational Matching Gemstone: Red Calcite

Red calcite holds the energy of staying organized and getting things done in an intelligent, sequential manner. Red calcite is the perfect stone to use when an activity requires physical endurance. On a spiritual level, red calcite amplifies the understanding of the teachings of Native American spirituality, the way of the Good Red Road (walking the road of balance). Its energy lends itself to a stronger connection with Mother Earth and earth-centered spirituality.

Message from Red Calcite

Perhaps you need a burst of energy and enthusiasm and a bit of motivation to get things done. It’s time to get things moving. Use your creative energy to manifest your heart’s desire. Take the time to connect with Mother Earth. Perform a simple ceremony stating your intention, and watch how you move forward to complete your goals.

When a trail of ants comes into your life, reflect on your part in your social structure. Look at your responsibilities and how you fulfill your role. Call on Ant when you need strength that you perceive to be bigger than you can fathom. Ant is also a reminder to find the sweetness in life. Ants are constantly sniffing out food and sugary treats. Use this characteristic to encourage resourcefulness in find the joy in life.

Clarity, Truth, and Wisdom: Owl and the Indicolite Gemstone

Owl appeared in my life as a totem before I had any ideas about animal totems or power animals. One early morning in the early 1980s, upon returning from a night of disco dancing, I arrived home to find three small owls perched on the railing of my condo’s walkway. Being a recent transplant from Brooklyn, this startled me considerably and the image is etched indelibly in my heart and mind. In retrospect, owls were part of my life during college a few years prior to that experience. My alma mater, Florida Atlantic University, has the owl as its mascot. In fact, the land is a sanctuary for animals.

Over the years, there have been a number of significant events showing me that Owl is one of my power animals. As a primary totem, this bird brings the vibration of wisdom, cognizance, and knowledge. This totem is found in the east quadrant of the wheel of life lending clarity and perspective in order to know the truth in all matters. With its royal associations, indicolite is a stone of wise leadership which requires expanded awareness. Indicolite is blue tourmaline and has a very similar vibration as blue sapphire and gem-quality blue kyanite.

If you have an inkling that Owl is one of your allies, take the time to connect deep within your consciousness. Trust yourself as you develop the ability to see, feel, know, and hear what lies beneath the surface. Follow your intuition. Pay attention to your dreams. If you don’t have a habit of remembering your dreams then focus on what you feel and think when you first wake up. Inner guidance and knowledge is yours.

Owl Affirmation: Knowledge and wisdom regarding secrets are revealed to me when needed. It’s easy for me to see the unseen and hear the unsaid. I acknowledge and trust my intuition.

When Owl shows up in your life, pay attention to your inner knowing. Hidden agendas can be revealed to you. Maintain a sense of calm, stay focused, and sort out thoughts in a peaceful manner. The truth is available to you now and always.
