Saint Francis of Assisi, Patron of Animals and Animal Lovers

Similar to the voice of God heard by the Italian mystic St. Francis of Assisi (1182-1226), the aromatherapy formulas that come to me are Divinely inspired. The ideas and inspiration for all that I do feel as if they are coming as direct requests from God, Goddess, and legions of Angels.

This past December 2017, the inspiration to create the St. Francis of Assisi blend for this patron saint of animals and the environment came loud and clear.

To align with this saint and to get to know a little about St. Francis it is said that he heard the voice of Christ, who told him to rebuild the Christian Church. Even if you aren’t aligned with the Christian faith, the teachings of Jesus the Christ are comparatively aligned with Buddha, Krishna, and other spiritual masters teaching love, compassion, and kindness. Francis paid attention to the instructions he received and devoted himself to Christianity. He began preaching around Assisi, Italy, and was soon joined by 12 followers.

Some perceived Francis as a madman or a fool to give up his great wealth and follow the spiritual guidance he received. Others saw  him as one of the greatest examples of how to live the Christian ideal since Jesus Christ himself. “Whether he was really touched by God, or simply a man misinterpreting hallucinations brought on by mental illness and/or poor health, Francis of Assisi quickly became well-known throughout the Christian world.”

The prayer of St Francis of Assisi is a good example and a teaching to help each of us become a better person.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

Where there is hatred, let me bring love.

Where there is offense, let me bring pardon.

Where there is discord, let me bring union.

Where there is error, let me bring truth.

Where there is doubt, let me bring faith.

Where there is despair, let me bring hope.

Where there is darkness, let me bring your light.

Where there is sadness, let me bring joy.

O Master, let me not seek as much

to be consoled as to console,

to be understood as to understand,

to be loved as to love,

for it is in giving that one receives,

it is in self-forgetting that one finds,

it is in pardoning that one is pardoned,

it is in dying that one is raised to eternal life.

St. Francis founded the religious order known as the Franciscans. He became renowned for his love, simplicity, and practice of poverty like many other spiritual masters that came before him and after him.

There are many stories of how St. Francis could communicate with animals and felt at one with all creation. It is more common today to connect with people who communicate with animals and understand animals – sometimes even better than the understanding we have for fellow humans.

St. Francis was known to invoke birds, animals and reptiles to praise and love their Creator. And many times during Francis’ life there were remarkable events of Francis speaking to the animals.

On October 4, people all over the world celebrate the feast day of the Patron Saint of Animals, Saint Francis of Assisi. This day, in many locales, dedicates this day for the “Blessing of the Animals.”

Information for this post was compiled from ‘the Little Flowers of St, Francis of Assisi” book, the website of the Franciscan Friars and Catholic Encyclopedia.

St. Joseph Divine Partner by Margaret Ann Lembo

St. Joseph is celebrated each year on March 19. Growing up Italian, it was a special day which included Italian pastries. But pastries are not the focus of this post, St. Joseph is the focus..

St. Joseph was the ultimate Divine Partner. He was Mother Mary‘s husband. When you really think all of his qualities and all that he experienced, he certainly makes a good role model to emulate and follow. For example, St. Joseph obeyed the direction of an Angel of God on three occasions. And, Mother Mary had angelic apparitions as well. Read on.

Mary had a profound and amazing experience. When the angel Gabriel appeared to her, this is the message, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb, and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David, and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end” (Luke 1:30-33). She questioned the angel, as well she might: “How can this be, since I am a virgin?” (Luke 1:34). And Gabriel explained the supernatural phenomenon that would accomplish this unbelievable feat. “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason, the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God” (Luke 1:35).

Now, contemplate how St. Joseph could have easily thought that she was with another man.

An angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for that which has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins” (Matt. 1:20, 21).

Think about how Joseph felt before the dream and how intense it was to have the appearance of an angel to guide him. He had to be a man of great faith and trust to follow that inner guidance. Instead, he was a man of faith and received and believed guidance from God’s angels. Call on St. Joseph when you need to have faith and trust in the messages from the Divine and your heavenly legion of angels.

The angel of God appeared to Joseph two more times. Another message from an angel came to Joseph in a dream: “Arise and take the Child and His mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is going to search for the Child to destroy Him” (Matt. 2:13). After Herod’s death, the angel spoke to Joseph in Egypt: “Arise and take the Child and His mother and go into the land of Israel; for those who sought the Child’s life are dead” (Matt. 2:20).

St. Joseph is also a Patron of Homes and Families. Considering that he was a hard-working carpenter, he provided a solid and safe foundation for Mother Mary and Jesus. Joseph died before Jesus’ public life began and he was a consistent good earthly father figure for Jesus. Ask St. Joseph to help you attract the support of a good father or father figures in your life. This also includes the guidance and mentoring required in order to build a strong healthy foundation in successful business practices or sources of income to support you and your family. This St. Joseph Spray is a mist to use to call on St. Joseph to watch over your family.

The point of reflecting on these experiences of the Holy Family is to point toward the ability to trust the messages, follow the guidance, and trust your spouse and the direction you or your spouse receives. Trust is crucial in relationships so invite St. Joseph to bless you with the wisdom and trust needed to follow guidance. Invoke this saint for good fortune in a home and when moving.

I’m not sure where the practice and idea of burying a St. Joseph statue (upside down) in your yard to sell your home started but it is well-known by many. St. Joseph House Selling Kits can be found in my own store, The Crystal Garden, and many others. I personally put a St. Joseph statue on the window sill looking out when we wanted to sell the family home. I just didn’t feel drawn to burying the statue. Instead, I used the statue as a constant reminder that the right family would be attracted to our property for the right price for all concerned. Use our St. Joseph Spray for a speedy prosperous sale of real estate.

Whether you want to sell a home, increase your connection with messages from the divine or draw in your perfect partner Saint Joseph Spray can help. The scent of Saint Joseph Spray will help clear out negativity and increase abundance and blessings in your life.
