“Certain scents are associated with various spiritual archetypes. For example, the scent of roses is often associated with Mother Mary or the Divine Feminine. Saint Therese of Lisieux, known as the Little Flower, is associated with lilies, orris root, jasmine, violets, and roses. She says, “I will spend my heaven doing good on earth. I will let fall a shower of roses.” Her signature is the rose, which is her way of sending a sign to anyone who needs to know his or her prayers have been heard. In 1531, Our Lady of Guadalupe proved her identity to Juan Diego, an Aztec Indian, with Castilian roses growing on the dry desert hill on which she had appeared. These are just a few of the examples of the spiritual realm providing signs through scent.
