HAPPY INTERNATIONAL MOMENT OF LAUGHTER DAY
They say laughter is the best medicine. Well, this Friday, April 14 is the unofficial holiday “International Moment of Laughter Day” created by humorologist Izzy Gesell. So today, stop what you are doing and laugh and laugh and laugh. Send out positive energy to those around you. Have you ever noticed that when you smile at someone they generally smile back? When you hear someone laughing you join in even though you may not know why they are laughing! So today laughter is on the agenda.
According to the Mayo Clinic, a good sense of humor can’t cure all ailments, but data is mounting about the positive things laughter can do.
- Activate and relieve your stress response
- Soothe tension
- Improve your immune system
- Relieve Pain
- Increase personal satisfaction
- Improve your mood
Looking for a little more joy and happiness in your life? Consider using these essential oils to help you along your way.
Bergamot – helps to raise your level of joy while releasing any feelings of the blues or symptoms of depression.
Grapefruit – helps to open your heart to receive blessings, joy, and happiness. It evokes feelings of bliss and comfort.
Lemon – The golden energy of this oil can help dissipate whatever challenge or negative emotion is blocking your way to happiness.
Orange – is enlivening and brings joy
but it also provides the energy of relaxation and calmness.
As we think about International Moment of Laughter Day remember the following:
The sound of laughter is like the vaulted dome of a temple of happiness – Milan Kundera
If you are too busy to laugh, you are too busy – Proverb
The earth laughs in flowers – e.e. Cummings
A good laugh is sunshine in the house – William Thackeray
To close I would like to quote Stella & Blake (whoever they are) who said “Laugh my friend, for laughter ignites a fire within the pit of your belly and awakens your being”
Happy International Moment of Laughter Day!
With love and gratitude,
Margaret Ann Lembo
