Green Onyx is part of the Chalcedony Quartz family. It has a triangular crystal structure. It has been around since prehistoric times but has been better known for its use in Ancient Greek times, where it got its name, Onyx, from the Greek word "fingernail". It was thought that Eros, the Greek god of love and sexuality, clipped his fingernails. When these nails fell to Earth, they turned into Onyx. Archeologists have discovered swords, amulets, shields, and even armor made from this stone.
