National Good Neighbor Day

“National Good Neighbor Day”

Tomorrow, September 28 is “National Good Neighbor Day.” This holiday is timely as we are in the aftermath of both Hurricane Harvey and Irma. In the face of disaster and discomfort, we have witnessed the coming together of neighbors to support each other and lend a helping hand.

Neighbors helping neighbors is certainly not a new concept. Growing up in Brooklyn we knew our neighbors. We could count on them for support, a cup of sugar and it was a village where children could feel safe. Today, the construct of a neighborhood is different. We build fences, entertain in our backyards and maybe wave at our neighbors as we pull into our driveways. “National Good Neighbor Day” is our opportunity to recognize and appreciate our neighbors!

This day was created in the early 1970s by Becky Matson of Lakeside, Montana. President Jimmy Carter saw the value of such a day, and in 1978 he issued Proclamation 4601 and named this day “National Good Neighbor Day”.

“As our Nation struggles to build friendship among the peoples of this world, we are mindful that the noblest human concern is a concern for others. Understanding, love, and respect build cohesive families and communities. The same bonds cement our Nation and the nations of the world. For most of us, this sense of community is nurtured and expressed in our neighborhoods where we give each other an opportunity to share and feel part of a larger family…I call upon the people of the United States and interested groups and organizations to observe such day with appropriate ceremonies and activities.”

Tomorrow take a step to honor your neighbor. Perhaps it’s a tumbled stone in an organza bag, or an essential blended oil spray left on their doorstep. There are several that says I care about you!

Pink Calcite activates loving thoughts. It transforms less ideal mental musings into thoughts of self-love, thereby increasing your ability to love and receive love from others. Hold this stone when you are concentrating on thinking positive, uplifting thoughts about yourself and others.

I feel nurtured by my friends and family. I am blessed with nurturing vibrations where I go! I am gentle. All change brings more love and better life situations.

Prosperity and abundance Aromatherapy Spray

Prosperity Spray makes the perfect gift. As you think of your neighbor visualize good fortune, wealth, and abundance of goodness for them.

Tomorrow let’s challenge each other by stepping out of our comfort zone and reaching out to our neighbors!

With love and gratitude,
