About the stone: Pink Calcite is calcium carbonate crystallizing in the rhombohedral system. If not colored by cobalt (see Cobaltoan Calcite), it is often colored by manganese; these varieties can be called manganocalcite or manganoan calcite, especially when banded. Specimens may exhibit rhombohedral crystals and vary from transparent to opaque.
