Myrrh is a reddish-brown resin that comes from the sap of trees in the genus Commiphora.

Myrrh is a gum that is a fixative and strengthens the vibration of resins or oils it is combined with. Myrrh oil was used as an embalming agent for the deceased as well as an anointing oil/resin by the Eastern Orthodox Church. It calls forth the Holy Spirit or Great Spirit. Adding it to a smudge blend brings the Holy Spirit into your space. Used for over 4,000 years, it has been used for varied purposes from embalming to seduction.
