About the stone: Pyrite is iron sulfide and crystallizes in the cubic system. This iron mineral often crystallizes as cubes with striations running at right angles to the adjoining faces. Pyrite may also form with twelve five-sided faces known as a pyritohedron. Pyrite also occurs as a replacement mineral in the formation of fossils.
