Clarity, Truth, and Wisdom: Owl and the Indicolite Gemstone

Owl appeared in my life as a totem before I had any ideas about animal totems or power animals. One early morning in the early 1980s, upon returning from a night of disco dancing, I arrived home to find three small owls perched on the railing of my condo’s walkway. Being a recent transplant from Brooklyn, this startled me considerably and the image is etched indelibly in my heart and mind. In retrospect, owls were part of my life during college a few years prior to that experience. My alma mater, Florida Atlantic University, has the owl as its mascot. In fact, the land is a sanctuary for animals.

Over the years, there have been a number of significant events showing me that Owl is one of my power animals. As a primary totem, this bird brings the vibration of wisdom, cognizance, and knowledge. This totem is found in the east quadrant of the wheel of life lending clarity and perspective in order to know the truth in all matters. With its royal associations, indicolite is a stone of wise leadership which requires expanded awareness. Indicolite is blue tourmaline and has a very similar vibration as blue sapphire and gem-quality blue kyanite.

If you have an inkling that Owl is one of your allies, take the time to connect deep within your consciousness. Trust yourself as you develop the ability to see, feel, know, and hear what lies beneath the surface. Follow your intuition. Pay attention to your dreams. If you don’t have a habit of remembering your dreams then focus on what you feel and think when you first wake up. Inner guidance and knowledge is yours.

Owl Affirmation: Knowledge and wisdom regarding secrets are revealed to me when needed. It’s easy for me to see the unseen and hear the unsaid. I acknowledge and trust my intuition.

When Owl shows up in your life, pay attention to your inner knowing. Hidden agendas can be revealed to you. Maintain a sense of calm, stay focused, and sort out thoughts in a peaceful manner. The truth is available to you now and always.

  1. Hi, Margaret! Great article. I see owls often in my meditations, and throughout my day in various forms in magazines, in ads in magazines, on billboards, etc. I always knew owls had keen eyesight and used to think of them as a symbol for clairvoyance, but recently heard that owls actually use their hearing more than their vision to track down their prey – indicating they symbolize clairaudience, too. I thought this was really cool since my clairaudient abilities have sharpened over the past year and I now see more owls in my daily life. I know when I see an owl, especially in meditation, that I need to trust my intuition and what I am seeing, hearing, sensing and feeling – even if others people are saying something contrary to that. Thank you for this post on your experience with owls and for allowing me to share mine!

    1. Jaime, Thank you for sharing! Yes, clairaudience is profound. I love this gift as a writer. xo Margaret Ann

  2. I love owls and have found this again so interesting and will look out for more owls and hopefully wisdom to come into my life.
