Gemstones to Encourage Self-Care
By Margaret Ann Lembo
Using crystals, minerals, and stones is a tool to help you create balance, happiness, and health on all levels — mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. The energy of the gems, coupled with your clear intentions, helps you remember to focus on your wishes, dreams, and desires instead of what you don’t want to experience. These beautiful treasures remind you to stay focused and be mindful because our thoughts create reality and what we focus on is what we experience.
Here are five gemstones to choose from, or you can use them all!
Amethyst is a variety of quartz (crystalline silicon dioxide) with a natural violet color due to the impurity of iron, other trace elements, and irradiation. Due to the powerful transformative qualities of amethyst, keep it nearby when you want to change an unwanted situation and visualize the outcome or more positive reality. When you realize your emotions need to be transformed or significantly shifted, amethyst’s purple energy gives you the strength and wherewithal to make the change. Imagine yourself surrounded by the purple energy of this gemstone as you focus on how you would like to feel.
Angelite is a blue variety of anhydrous calcium sulfate. Call all on the angels with Angelite on hand to help you with your emotional
upsets. If you need to cry or are experiencing internal emotional angst, touch this stone and gaze at the calming blue color while you form the thought or prayers, asking your angels to help you. Ask for understanding and to be consciously aware when the messages are provided. Ask the angels to help you interpret the messages so you can apply them to your daily life.
Chrysoprase, used by Hildegarde von Bingen, is a microcrystalline quartz (silicon dioxide) denoted by its green color. With its sea-green appearance, chrysoprase reminds you to take a break and relax so that you can recharge yourself physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. This stone helps you learn about color, sound, and vibration as a spiritual tool to open your consciousness to unlimited potential. It’s a heart chakra stone, opening you to love, compassion, and kindness.
Chrysocolla is a hydrous copper silicate with a color caused by various impurities. Chrysocolla may be mixed with malachite, azurite,
cuprite, and other copper minerals, as well as rock crystal quartz. Work with chrysocolla to absorb and transform your angst if you are disturbed by negative repetitive thoughts. With this stone in hand, imagine putting those negative thoughts into a compost pile and imagining them being transformed into a healthy foundation to support the positive seeds you plant in the place of negative ones!
Sodalite is a sodium aluminum silicate with sodium chloride and is best known as one of the components of lapis. Sodalite usually contains more calcite, evidenced by white inclusions. The calcite supports you as you change your focus onto habits of health and well-being. Sodalite balances rampant emotions. This is a perfect stone for calming and releasing anger and frustration. Use sodalite to maintain your focus on the intention of inner peace, health, and well-being.
I am calm.
I am relaxed, and all is well.
I sail through life on calm, nurturing waters and enjoy good health.
Stay focused using these beautiful treasures to remind you to be mindful because thoughts create reality and what we focus on is what we experience.
