Mystics, Saints, and Alignment with the Divine
By Margaret Ann Lembo
“What is a mystic?
Noun: a person who claims to achieve or believes in the possibility of achieving insight into mysteries that go beyond ordinary human knowledge, often through direct communication with the divine or immediate intuition during a state of spiritual ecstasy.

Through contemplation and reflection, one can achieve a sense of oneness with the Divine. This experience manifests as a form of ecstasy or an altered state of consciousness. Spiritual experiences like these can arise through prayer and meditation. The use of mantras, chanting, and sound can enhance these experiences.
Saint Catherine of Siena (1347 – 1380) experienced mystical visions from a young age. One of her most profound ecstatic experiences was the “mystical marriage,” during which she was united with Christ. The wedding party included Mother Mary, Saint John the Evangelist, Saint Paul, Saint Dominic, and King David, who played the harp. She achieved a mystical union with God. Saint Catherine of Siena dictated a book of mystical theology, the Dialogue of Divine Providence, which focuses on discretion, prayer, and obedience.
Saint Francis of Assisi, 1181 – 1226, was a mystic. He sought spiritual enlightenment. He had a mystical vision of Jesus Christ, during which he was told to repair His church. Saint Francis of Assisi continued his work of brotherly love and peace and attracted eleven followers. He was dedicated to imitating Jesus Christ and carrying out his work.
Saint Hildegard of Bingen (1098–1179), also known as Hildegard von Bingen, was a composer, herbalist, healer, linguist, mystic, pharmacist, philosopher, playwright, poet, theologian, visionary, and writer. She served as a spiritual healer for physical ailments, utilizing tinctures, herbs, and gemstones in her treatments. Hildegard experienced extraordinary visions, which she documented in her theological writings. She established her own abbey, developed her own language, and composed one of the earliest musicals. Saint Hildegard of Bingen created numerous works, including volumes of visionary theology, musical compositions, a play, over 400 letters to popes, emperors, abbots, abbesses, sermons, and minor works, such as a gospel commentary, among many others!
Padre Pio was a mystic endowed with remarkable spiritual gifts, including the stigmata, bilocation, healing, prophecy, and the ability to see into people’s hearts. He possessed the gift of knowing details, events, and consciences. He spent nights praying the rosary and seldom slept more than a few hours.
The stigmata refer to bodily wounds, scars, and pains that correspond to the crucifixion wounds of Jesus Christ—wounds in the wrists and feet from nails, in the side from a lance, and occasionally on the forehead from the crown of thorns. He is the first priest to bear the stigmata, which were nuanced with floral, vanilla, tobacco, wood, and musk notes. Others claim that wherever he went, he carried with him an intense scent of violet. People who encountered him or experienced the fragrances associated with his presence described the aromas as resembling roses; others maintained he smelled like tobacco.

Use crystals, minerals, and stones to enhance your experience. Amethyst serves as your ally in maintaining a connection with your inner mystic. Moonstone promotes intuitive visions and realizations. Kambaba jasper, a mystical stone, aligns you with the inner peace that is inherent in your true nature. The green vibration of this stone opens your heart to your healing abilities. Look into the orbicular dark green fossilized blue-green algae to access ancient wisdom and knowledge. Blue topaz inspires and facilitates a two-way conversation with God, angels, and saints. Picture how silver topaz’s silvery blue energy sends out a ray of light connecting your heart, throat, and mind with the heavenly realm to awaken your inner mystic.
Use aromatherapy to connect with the Divine. Frankincense essential oil is ideal for inhalation because it promotes a sense of calm and inner peace, helping you connect with your inner mystic. Sandalwood essential oil fosters a quiet mind, boosts confidence in spiritual endeavors, and aligns your mind and heart with the Divine. Angelica essential oil aids you in embracing the gifts of clairvoyance, prophecy, and revelation, strengthening your faith in yourself, God, and the Divine. Bergamot opens pathways in the mind and brain, granting access to higher realms of consciousness and information from other dimensions of existence.

Connect with the mystic within you who has access to the records of all that is, all that was, and all potential future realities. Be open to a mystical awakening. Each of us has the ability to be a mystic. After reading this, you might realize that you already are a mystic.
