About the stone: Septarian is a variety of concretion composed of several minerals depending on the deposit location. One such concretion consists of calcite cemented mineral-rich mud formed during dehydration that may also contain pyrite. Barite is also known to be a component of septarian when present during the formation of sedimentary rock.
