About the stone: Optical calcite (Iceland Spar) is the optically clear form of calcite, calcium carbonate crystallizing in the rhombohedral system. Optical calcite is colorless and occurs in crystal form. Well known for its property of double refraction, when a clear calcite crystal is placed over words on a paper the letters appear twice.
